How to Make Lasagna with Spinach and Meat

Spinach lasagna is a type of lasagna that includes spinach as one of its ingredients. Lasagna is a dish made by layering flat pasta sheets, typically made from wheat flour, with cheese, meat, or vegetables, and a sauce, typically made from tomatoes. Spinach lasagna specifically incorporates cooked and chopped spinach into the layers of pasta, cheese, and sauce. The spinach adds a nutritional boost to the dish and gives it a unique flavor.

To make spinach lasagna, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 pound of lasagna noodles
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 2 cups of ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups of mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 10 ounces of frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 2 cups of tomato sauce

Here is a step-by-step guide for making spinach lasagna:

Preheat 1your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

2Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain the noodles and set them aside.

3In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

4Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until it is browned, about 10 minutes.

5In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese, the egg, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir to combine.

6To assemble the lasagna, spread 1 cup of the tomato sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place a layer of lasagna noodles on top of the sauce. Spread half of the spinach over the noodles, followed by half of the meat mixture and half of the remaining tomato sauce. Repeat the layers once more, ending with a layer of noodles on top.

7Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top of the lasagna.

8Cover the baking dish with foil and bake the lasagna for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

9Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
