Roasted Honey Garlic Pork

- 4 pounds pork shoulder roast cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 onion roughly chopped
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 6 cloves garlic finely diced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 cup honey
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes adjust to taste
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds optional, for garnish
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cut pork into bite-sized 1-inch cubes and roughly chop the onion.
Place pork and onions into a braiser, roasting pan, or large skillet with a lid. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Cover and bake for 1 hour. Do not drain the juices from the pan.
In a small bowl, mix the diced garlic, honey, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes.
Pour sauce over pork and stir to coat well.
Return to oven and roast uncovered for an additional 1½ hours, stirring every 20–30 minutes. The sauce will thicken and edges will darken and caramelize.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the heat level.
- Great served over rice or noodles. Leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 4 days.
